Like the other games in the series, Formula Front puts players in control of a team of five rookie pilots. As the architect, players are tasked with assembling the AC units of the team and then leading the team in combat in the Formula Front contest. Players have hundred of parts and weapons to choose from, including energy blades, cannons, and rockets. But players can’t use just any part. They have to look at factors like weight, energy use, heat, and more, and balancing these factors against the stats like attack power, defense, and mobility is where the real challenge of Formula Front comes in. Before each Formula Front match, players can research their opponent and tweak their AC to play to its weaknesses. Because players have a team of five, they can set each AC to a specific purpose, meaning they won’t need to completely rebuild a robot before each match. However, sometimes even a minor adjustment to an AC can mean the difference between victory and defeat. In addition to the single player mode and the quick battles, gamers can take on their friends via wireless connection.
