Description
It's the same, but different. The number of buttons and functionality appears to be identical to the Playstation 1 and 2, except for finally removing the analog mode select button. The main difference is that the shape has been redesigned to be more 'modern' and the controller is now wireless like the GameCube's WaveBird.
Wether there are any more surprises about this controller is still unknown, but given Sony's conservative stance on it's controllers, I'm guessing it's otherwise functionally identical to the PS2 controller.
I'm actually surprised they made such a radical change to the style. I was expecting the controller to look and feel like their old PS1/PS2 controllers, with only some subtle evolution of the old design.
