Atari 2600

THE ATARI 2600

Why Atari is #1

The most games, the best games are only from Atari.  Atari makes more video game cartridges than anyone else.  Adventure games, arcade games, educational games, our new RealSports games.  And they only work in the Atari 2600 Video Computer System.  No other system gives you nearly as much choice.  Or nearly as much fun.

Atari brings the arcade classics home.  Only Atari has home versions of Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Missile Command, Asteroids, Breakout, Defender, and Berzerk.  The greatest arcade hits of all time.  If you have an Atari system, you can play them at home.  If you have some other system, you can't

You don't need two people to play ball with an Atari 2600.  All the best Atari games can be enjoyed by a single player.  Including our new RealSports games.  To play another system's sports games, you need another person

Simple, straightforward controllers.  With some systems controllers, learning a new game is about as much fun as learning to type.  that's why Atari gives you easy to use joysticks and paddles.  Becaused it's the games you're out to master, not the controllers.

All for about $100 less.  For the price of other game playing systems, you can buy an Atari 2600 and still have about $100 left over.  Enough to start your Atari videog game library with hits like Pac-Man, Asteroids, and Defender.  Which by the way, you can't play on other systems at atny price.

Atari There's No Comparing it With Any Other Video Game

Only Atari makes the games the world wants most.  Games that are innovative. Intense, Incredibly involving.  And totally original.
In 1980 Atari invaded the minds of millions with Space Invaders.  It went on to become the single most popular video game in the world and thereby launched the space age game category.
Today Atari Missile Command and Asteroids are the fastest selling home video games in the country.  And judging by its current success in the arcades, Atari Pac Man is slated for the same next in 1982.

The legendary company whose name is synonymous with the word "videogame." Founded as an arcade- game produced by Pong inventor Nolan Bushnell in 1972, Atari came to prominence in 1977 with the company's most famous product, the TV game system Atari 2600. This system is the father of all videogame systems. How can anyone forget this system. This was the big one, everybody and their brother had a 2600. If you didn't have it, chances are a friend did. There were several different types of Atari 2600s available. Some were the standard plastic casing, others featured a simulated wood cabinet. Another version came out for a low, low price of under $50. If gamers want a huge library of games, this is where to go.

O what a joy it was to play this system everyday when I got home from school. These games bring back so many memories. If you are an avid collector of video games, this is the site for you.
