Game connectors

A few months ago, I found a metal polisher that I used on a few of my games' connectors. After using the polish, I found that the normal finish was gone and left a silver polished finish so fine I can see my reflection in the connectors.
Are the connectors on the game gold plated too? It seems very thin if it is, it doesn't take much to wear it off. I know that the connector inside the console has gold connectors. The games I have polished work great with no problems whatsoever, but I'm concerned if the new finish is wearing away the connectors on my console.

yeah, your never supposed to use metal polishers with the games/system. Eventually you will wear off the finish, and the games will corrode into paperweights. I hope u dont ever do that again, seriously.
