How to fix my NES

I recently dug it out of my closet and saw my badass super dodgeball begging to be played once more. I hook everything up, and turn it on. Red light flashes, and the tv screen shows a snowstorm. I can tell that it's trying to show the screen (the snowstorm gets darker when I turn on the NES). Does this mean I need a new part? I really don't want to spend 80 bucks on a new one. I probably will eventually though. In the meantime...anyone know what's going on with my old one?
