Players can select one of four different fighting styles for Dante: trickster, swordmaster, gunslinger, and royal guard. Each has its own abilities, allowing players to customize their character as they see fit. Because of the fluid weapons changes, players will quickly discover Dante can combine attacks in many different ways, and some combos, moves, and weapons in Devil May Cry 3 are more effective against some enemies than others. Discovering what attacks to use during battles, especially the intense boss fights, is a must. Like the previous games, Dante can collect money to purchase items and weapon upgrades as he climbs the tower.
