Description
Golf only features 2 modes of play: 1 player or 2 player if you have a friend with the same game. There are no tournaments or computer opponents. With that said, Golf is still a lot of fun to play. Golf contains two 18 hole courses, one is named USA and the other is named Japan. A great feature that keeps the game enjoyable is the name entry. Here you can enter up to 2 names that will be saved. A player's best score on each course will be saved. You can view your score for each hole not just the end total.Gameplay is not complicated as other golf games sometimes are. You control the Nintendo mascot simply known as Mario. Choose a club, aim the shot, check the wind, and swing. Swinging is done by pressing a button once to start a marker moving along a meter bar. Pressing a second time will stop the marker which will be how much power you will swing with. As the marker moves back down the meter bar you will press a button one more time to control the hook or slice.Graphics are clear and effective. Sand traps, the rough, the fairway, and water hazards are all easily distinguishable from each other. Background music is best when turned down. It's okay but is nothing great. Sound effects efficiently signal where your ball has landed.Golf is nothing fancy but it does not need to be. For the Game Boy it is a good game that is easy to play when traveling. If you enjoy playing golf videogames then you should have some fun with this one.
