In this open-world shooter, the player is put in the role of a citizen in a city that has been overrun by mutants. Using combat agility and a collection of powerful weapons, the player must fight back against the mutants. Sunset Overdrive's combat system allows players to traverse the brightly-colored near-future city and fight with zip-lines, wall running, and other acrobatic moves. The colorful design of the world, as well as the agile combat, are part of the game's attempt to create a shooter with a fun, irreverent atmosphere.
