Description

The Mappets have shielded the land of Gross from war and destruction for close to 1,000 years. But the evil General Vorless has stolen the Soul Sword and is using it to destroy the Mappets. With the Mappets out of the way, he hopes to awaken Luna, the Goddess of Destruction, and rule the land unopposed. You take the role of Luca, a young magician whose goal is to save the remaining Mappets and protect the world from Vorless. The heart and soul of the game is battle, with all of the battles taking place on 3D isometric fields inhabited by 2D sprites. Every character has unique skills that must be employed during the fight to succeed. Luckily, there are also 150 Mappets that can be collected to help give you an edge in combat. Play ETERNAL EYES and help Luca save the world and the Mappets.

Fun for the Whole Family by Eternal 21 Feb 2011
I picked up this game a few months back. I figured it was only , so I'd sell it if I didn't like it. To be perfectly honest I was expecting it to be a clearance-rack quality game.
Boy was I in for a shock. Eternal Eyes is a *very* good game. More of a strategy game than a traditional RPG, it has you collecting these items called "magical puppets" that you have to then give jewels to for them to evolve. They then assist you in battle.

The battle system owes a lot to Final Fantasy Tactics. It is turn based, with each creature moving and attacking once per round. There are various types of terrain and obstacles to contend with as well, and that adds an additional element to the strategy.

The save system and non-combat menus take some getting used to if you're used to traditional RPGs. They cannot be accessed at will, which is annoying at first. Once you get used to them, however, they're very easy to use.

The 3D graphics are not the greatest, but are quite good for the PS1. And the opening animation/theme song is worth the purchase price alone!!

Other than that, there's no blood, no real language issues, and the only violence is in the cinema sequences. Saturday morning cartoons are worse. I heartily recommend this game for anyone who likes anime or strategy games, I bought it and couldn't put it down for two weeks.

Cheers...
