NIS America, producer of DISGAEA and LA PUCELLE: Tactics, brings a new strategy RPG to the PS2 with MAKAI KINGDOM: CHRONICLES OF THE SACRED TOME. Part of the series of LA PUCELLE games (although not a direct sequel), the game features an intriguing story, interesting characters, and a fun, addictive battle system. The world of MAKAI KINGDOM: CHRONICLES OF THE SACRED TOME is one of
parallel universes and parallel netherworlds. Each of these netherworlds is ruled by an overlord, none of which is more powerful than Lord Zetta. However, fellow overlord Pram foresees his defeat, leading Zetta to consult the Sacred Tome, the book that contains all the secrets of the universe. The book only seconds everything Pram said, so Zetta tries to burn it, causing his entire realm to burst into flames. To save himself, Zetta confines his soul to the tome. But instead of a brave young hero battling to keep Zetta imprisoned, players instead take on the role of Zetta himself as he and his band of minions search for a way to free him from the book and regain control of his netherworld. Like PHANTOM BRAVE, players build their team of characters by confining souls to different objects. Each object has its own properties and bonuses that will be reflected on the character created. Vehicles and facilities can also be invited to join Zetta's team, each of which
grant certain bonuses to characters. Playing from an evil overlord's point of voice gives the entire game a different, unique feel that long-term RPG players will appreciate.
