Monopoly is a board game made by Hasbro Interactive that has been turned into a video game. Monopoly was created in 1934, during the Great Depression. the game immediately became a success and when the original creator couldn't keep up with demand he sold rights to the game to Parker Brothers. It has become extremely popular and it is played by people all over the world. 20 million copies of the board game have been sold worldwide. With that in mind I am assuming in this review that you have played Monopoly and you want to know whether the video game one is as good.

Graphics: 9/10

I really like the graphics in this game because of the animation of the tokens. They look funny (in a good way)when they walk around the board and they also look so sad when something bad happens to them, i.e. having to pay rent, going to jail, etc., you just can't help feeling bad for them. The Jockey is the funniest piece because he doesn't actually have a horse. He just has a fake one and you can tell because his 'horse' only has two legs. The board, the dice, and everything else are also done well.

Gameplay: 8/10

The gameplay in this game is great. It has wonderful replay value and the game can just draw you into it. I would have given it a 9, but this is the same game you can play manually and even though I liked that they kept true to the game, that reduces the score a bit. One of the huge advantages it has over regular Monopoly is that you can play against the CPU. So if you can't find anyone to play with you'll still be able to play.

Control: 7/10

You might be thinking 'How can it have bad control, it's Monopoly.' I thought the same thing before I played the game but the controls for many of the things in the game are rather awkward. Important things like trading, putting in houses, etc. are rather difficult to do and someone new to the game might not be able to figure out how to do it. But in reality the reason some of the things are so awkward is because there aren't enough buttons on the controller.

Sound: 8/10

The sound on this game is pretty good, but not great. The music is nice because it's quiet and slow and it doesn't distract you when you're playing the game. There are also nice sounds to accompany certain actions such as trading, buying property, collecting rent, etc. The best thing is that if you really don't like the sound, you can always turn it off.

So should you rent or buy? You should rent it first and if you enjoy it and the novelty of having a video game 'Monopoly' doesn't wear off, you should buy it.
