Whether you were a big fan of NBA JAM in its arcade days, an appreciator of NBA JAM '99, or you've never played either one, you'll be happy to find such an excellent mix of arcade style and basketball simulation. NBA JAM 2000 boasts some serious attention to detail, as Xavier McDaniel provided the motion-captured animation for a staggering 800 moves. Over 200 player stats are tracked, and each home arena is replicated down to its lighting and floor variations. Teams are even set to play in their own styles, from the Celtics' press to the Lakers' triangle offense. If you'd rather develop your own coaching method, you can choose from over 80 plays and sets from the playbook. If your team just doesn't work, play GM and execute a few trades, sign some free agents, release the dead-weight players, and make some good draft picks. The game features the standard Exhibition, Playoff, and Championship modes (all customizable), and adds in a Skills mode that allows you to test your mettle at 3-point shooting. If you really miss the old NBA JAM, they've even included a two-on-two throwback, replete with 50 different super dunks, "on-fire" streaks, and no fouls. NBA JAM 2000 is pure rim-rocking, in-your-face action.
