The ultimate just got more … ultimate. A follow-up to the popular NHL BREAKAWAY '98, this one has all of the options from the previous version with improved graphics, sound, and artificial intelligence. As with the last installment, there are three difficulty settings, five speeds, three goalie difficulties, four referee styles, and your choice of automatic or manual line changes. You can play an Exhibition, Season, Shootout, or jump right to the high-stakes Playoffs. You can even play an International Tournament to make the competition mirror the style of the Olympics. It won't be easy, though, as the International teams are packed with NHL superstars. The better you perform in your games, the more points you earn toward getting better coaching. If you feel like playing General Manager, go ahead and sign free agents, drop the underachievers, and make trades with up to six players.
