The year is 1834. In London, there is a great fire sweeping through the city, burning the landscape to ashes. A secret organization called the Brotherhood of Hecate has rediscovered the lost key to man's unholiest fears, unleashing demons from other planes of existence into our world. England's two bravest warriors have volunteered to face the grotesque creatures and find the leader of the Brotherhood. You can play as either Ignatius (a noble, staff-wielding monk), or Nadia (a female master of swordsmanship). The rich storyline becomes darker and more involved as you move through the 16 grim levels of play, battling zombies, gargoyles, and other unfriendly gremlins. There is a total of 28 brutal attack combos you can use, and just a few of the weapons at your disposal include pistols, fire bombs, mines, and confusion spells. A truly frightening experience, Nightmare Creatures is one the darkest, most lushly detailed, expansive games for the N64. The graphics, animations, and enemy intelligence are incredible, and the camera work lends a genuine cinematic feel to the adventure. If the sight of blood and guts makes you queasy, you'd better look elsewhere for your action.
