Return to the vampire-filled land of CASTLEVANIA with Konami's CASTLEVANIA: CURSE OF DARKNESS for the PS2. Once again, players must battle against the forces of the night in this action-adventure game based on the myth of Dracula. In Curse of Darkness, players take on the role of Hector. Hector, however, is not like the Beaumonts, the CASTLEVANIA family of vampire hunters out to save the world. Instead, he's a devil forge master, an former lieutenant of Dracula himself who gave up his powers when he betrayed the master of the night. Now, trapped in a cursed land full of monsters, Hector seeks revenge on Isaac, another forge master who killed Hector's beloved. However, the only way Hector can defeat Isaac is to re-embrace his demonic powers, which could lead Hector down a dark path he doesn't wish to follow. Like the previous CASTLEVANIA games, players have a huge amount of territory to explore, weapons to find, and enemies to vanquish. New abilities and equipment lie along the path, as to a number of restorative potions and items. Curse of Darkness features a larger number of weapons than previous games plus the inclusion of innocent devils, creatures created by the devil forge masters that Hector can call upon for assistance. There's also an item-creation system for players to master. Incorporating everything that CASTLEVANIA games are known for, including creepy, horror-like visuals, a great storyline, and intriguing characters, CASTLEVANIA: CURSE OF DARKNESS brings a fresh, new look at the Dracula story and the CASTLEVANIA series.
