THQ presents an updated look at the Punisher, a popular comic by Marvel that now comes to life on the Xbox. This third-person shooter puts players in the role of Frank Castle, also known as the Punisher. His family was killed by the mob, and now Frank is out for revenge. However, he's been caught by the police and is being interrogated. Through a series of flashbacks, players shoot and hack their way through the events leading up to Frank's arrest, including taking on the mob and a group of international terrorists. The Punisher deals mostly with firearms, starting the game with two pistols and building an arsenal of machine guns, rifles, and rocket launchers. Some, like the sniper rifle, have special abilities that make certain parts of the game much easier. Players can also send the Punisher into slaughter mode, which allows players to regain health while attacking enemies with an endless supply of knives. But players won't want to defeat enemies indiscriminately. The Punisher has the ability to interrogate captives. By interrogating enemies, players will get extra information and a small health boost. While most enemies don't know much, interrogating certain opponents is key to completing the game. Punisher games don't come along very often, so fans of the character won?t want to pass this up. Gamers who enjoy third-person shooters will want to give it a chance, too. The game brings the Punisher comic to life in the way that only a good console game can.
