Description
Pac-Land for the Atari Lynx.  Pac-Man and his family live in a place called Pac-Land, where there are colorful houses, busy streets, rolling green hills, and pesky ghosts looking to cause trouble. In a drastic departure from previous games in the Pac-Man series, Pac-Land involves guiding an anthropomorphic Pac-Man as he moves from left to right on a scrolling screen. Since Pac-Land can be a dangerous place, Pac-Man agrees to help a fairy named Buttercup cross the treacherous territory so she can safely return home. Dangers include pools of water, disappearing platforms, rolling logs, and more. There are also the ghosts, who will try to run into Pac-Man on pogo sticks or in cars, airplanes, and flying saucers.

Run, jump, and grab power-ups to help Pac-Man reach his destination in one piece. Helpful items include power pellets to make the ghosts vulnerable; hard hats to protect from falling objects; invisibility to run through areas undetected; and balloons, fruit, and other objects to collect for bonus points. The game consists of eight increasingly difficult "trips," spanning a total of 32 rounds. Surviving each trip isn't the only challenge, either: you must also finish it within a time limit. Failure to complete a stage within the allotted time will cause Sue the ghost to catch up to Pac-Man, ending his life. In addition to the solo game, two players can alternate turns while competing for highest score.
