Like their real-life counterpart, wrestling video games have vaulted off the top ropes of the ring and right into our living rooms. You can't channel surf for too long without running into a wrestling show, just as you won't leave a video game retailer's site without seeing a few wrestling titles.
WCW vs. the World takes on the wrestling genre, but with an interesting twist. The game is less about official licenses, and more about the large numbers of wrestlers, moves, and options. Only nine actual WCW (World Championship Wrestling) wrestlers are in the game, with the emphasis drawing from six wrestling federations from around the world. The gameplay is
rewarding, but requires effort. Individual matches last rather long, so you won't see many 30-second bouts. It's not the best wrestling game available, but the many options (including the cool "create a belt" feature) and
sheer number of wrestlers make up for its shortcomings.
